The Bearded Collie Club is the first club established for Beardie enthusiasts. It was formed with an original list of 26 founder members and was granted registration of title by the General Committee of the Kennel Club on 5th April 1955.

The Club has grown considerably since its formation and, in 1973, allowed the formation of branches which are currently:

Scottish; Northern; North East; Midlands; South East and South West (see BCC Branches for contact details).

Branches run events throughout the year in their respective areas to cater for all owners and the Club open shows move around the branches in turn so that each branch gets to host a show once every three years.

In 1972 the Club was granted championship show status and holds its championship show in December at a central location. This show is organised by the main committee and is usually held the first weekend in December.

The Club produced its first yearbook for 1976 (published in 1977), which was entirely the idea of Jenny Osborne. A book has been produced for each year with the exception of 1981, which provide a valuable reference to the breed.

The Club’s golden jubilee will be celebrated in 2005 and it is hoped that as many members as possible will join in the celebrations. Any ideas that you may have as to suitable activities please contact Norma Birtle on 01325 313871 or Angela Pedder on 01254 246474. Click here to email
